This was their only vinyl output but they did record a peel session under a new band name 2TV (BBC Maida Vale studio 4 on 22/08/79, Tracks were - Mary Thompson / Dear heart / Johnny plays up / Kids on the street)

the Stingrays - Unreleased track (1978)

What's It to dance to

A great unreleased track from the excellent Bristol band.
This was sent to me a couple of weeks ago by Russ (admittedly we had spoken about it a few times before)

Here's some info about the track in his own words:

"It was recorded at Sounds Conception on Ashley Road, Bristol on July 5th 1978.
Ken Wheeler, who did most , if not all of the Fried Egg Stuff, was the engineer,
Chris Bostock played Bass and Dean Sydney drums.
We recorded six songs that day including three we still play today, Mr Strut, Search Out and Sound.
I was playing my black Jedson Les Paul copy, which was stolen a couple of years later from the Crystal Theatre ,where a lot of the Fried Egg Bands rehearsed. It had the most powerful pickups, it sounds like I'm using an overdrive unit."

If you go to their myspace you'll note this recording is from their 2nd, of many line up's before any of their vinyl releases. You'll also find some new recordings &, that they are currently doing a mini tour of Japan!!

Another 45 that I knew nothing about until I received the comment below. Both sides are good Mod / powerpop, with the B side being the better to my taste.

The 45 was recorded at Britannia Row Studios, Islington in the first months of 1980 by

The Lyrics were by Keith Boulton /Gary Perry & Graham Reynolds & the bands short lifespan ran from mid 1979 to the end of '80.

Crach have a link with Trwynau Coch in that they both utilized the talent of Pianist Huw Chiswell.

the Method - Kings on the corner (1977)

b/w - Dynamo

Excellent double A sided punk / powerpop 45 with more than it's fair share of the bass guitar.
To my ears Dynamo is much the better side sounding very Similar to Nick Lowe's "Heart of the city" (If you look around I'm not the 1st to say this!!)

Nice slice of punky pubrock from these Bristol boys who upped sticks & moved to Germany (Hence the German only release of this corker which comes in the sleeve seen here or a nice gimmicky pop up sleeve - see download)

Both these tracks can be found on their lone LP
of the same name.
