Just another site that's giving you hard to find music

A Place To Find Some Rarer Tunes (Mod, PowerPop, Punk, Ska) ripped from my vinyl collection. If it sounds good I'll post it. The idea being that now you know about them, you can seek them out! If anyone is unhappy about any of these posts please contact me & I will take them off.

Telegrama - Chica Del Metro (1982)

b/w - Juando Sucio (Playing Dirty)

Great lone 45 from this Catalonian (Llefià in Badalona) Mod /powerpop band

Berto Rodriguez (voc bass)
José Belmonte (lead guitar)
Juan Antonio (rhythm guitar)
Jordi Miró (drums)

The band began in 1980 (all members being 18 & at the Institute of Eugeni D'Ors, Badalona). They gigged constantly though 1981 with the likes of The Sprays, Brighton 64 & Los Rápidos

March '82 : the record was the 1st release for the independent record label Flor Y Nata (initially a 1000 print run) although the video clip wasn't recorded for "Pista Libre de TVE" until May in Madrid.
July saw them begining their Mandatory Army sevice with a short time together in December to record some demos & then a drift in musical taste led them to disband.

The Sleeve was designed by Manolo Garcia from Los Rápidos

Chica Del Metro can be found on Powerpearls 2

Trastos - El Poli Te Ve (1980)

b/w - Rockers Del 83

I've just realised I've not posted anything from Spain for ages so here's the 1st 45 from Trastos

Trastos were an attempt by CBS to cash in on the pop / New Wave scene but don't let that put you off !
They began in Madrid in 1978 but didn't release any recorded material until 1980 with this El Poli Te Ve - (The cop sees you)

They were
Miguel Angel Lobato (voc)
Tores Crespo (guitar)
Fernando Crespo (bass
Javier Lobato (drums)
Luis Carlos Esteban
(keyboards)

Personally I prefer Rockers Del 83

Their other recordings were;
Te Voy A Buscar / El Botellin - CBS (1980) 7"
Trastos - CBS (1980) LP (all 4 tracks from the 45's are on this)

Mermelada - Coge el train (1979)

double 7"
1 A - coge el tren [take the train]
B - dime cual es tu comision
2 A - es mejor asi (down the road apice)
B - O.M.

This was their second release (1st under their shortened name )

Musically they are a Spanish "Dr Feelgood" giving some great R&B

From what I could gleam from other sites they are from Madrid & began in 1977 as "Mermelada de Lentejas" [lentil jam]
the band were

Javier Teixidor (guitar)
Daniel Montemayor (bass)
Antonio yen (drums)
Javier Encinas 'the Moor'(tenor sax
)

Javier Teixidor also produced & played bass on the 1st "los elegantes" 45 for the same label (chapa discos) - great Spanish Mod/new wave band

if you like this you can download their 1st LP here

Kamenbert - Sha La La La (1987)

b/w Voces

This is the 3rd & final 45 (I know there is a later LP from 1988 but not sure about any more singles) by this Spanish Mod band.
They apparently are from Castelldefels (Barcelona) their 1st 45 being released in 1983
All 3 of the 45's are worth trying to get your hands on. I've chosen this one coz it's the one I can always remember (it has a bit of a "dolly mixtures" sound to it! + gotta love the round sleeve)

there is a myspace where you can hear the 1st & 2nd 45's - another reason to post the 3rd -

http://www.myspace.com/kamenbert

If you're a fan of mod/powerpop music there is a plethora of it from Spain - I will be posting more in the future . I may not understand the words but the sounds get me every time!!
