Just another site that's giving you hard to find music

A Place To Find Some Rarer Tunes (Mod, PowerPop, Punk, Ska) ripped from my vinyl collection. If it sounds good I'll post it. The idea being that now you know about them, you can seek them out! If anyone is unhappy about any of these posts please contact me & I will take them off.

  1. Released much later than 15-02-79. Wherever that date was sourced it should be 15-02-80 (a Friday) though it may have been released slightly earlier.

Sounds 25-08-79 mentions released this month on Syron Records though that obviously didn't happen. I'm pretty sure The Nightriders 45 (10-79) pre-dates this as the prefix is STR rather than STAR like others on the label, also no mention of Pinnacle distribution on the Nightriders.

Peel played this in January 1980 and his comments suggest it was newly sent to him. There's also a mention in a review page in Record Mirror (05-80) among a long list of records from the past few months that all got dissed in one sentence.

    Anyway, nice record!

  2. Address for Syron Records from 1980 - Bob Smart, 41 Wadeson St, London E2. Bob/Rob same person? or his dad? Either way it was their own label with maybe finances getting in the way of the 08/79 scheduled release. Stardust was co-producer Martin Murray's label.

I'm guessing the promo info sheet mentioned in 45 Revolutions only quoted the day and month so naturally is was matched (wrongly) with the year on the labels. Record Business and Music Master both say 02/80 too.
