b/w - People And Buildings
This 45 doesn't really know what it wants to be (snyth led but with ska / powerpop overtones) anyway I sort of like it!
I couldn't find much info on the (Manchester based?) band (an internet search shows there are plenty of this record for sale)
It's on the Mansfield based Rondelet Music & Records Label.
Both sides were penned by P. Soffe & the bass player was Mike Wellman (creator of Pacru). As to the identity of other 3 - Anyone know? (See Comments!)

A very cool little single - thanx Bruce!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for this 7. Really fantastic. Cheers.
ReplyDeletePaul Soffe was the singer songwriter in the band (and keyboards prior to Mark's arrival).
ReplyDeleteAndy Summers was the drummer.
Ged Kelly was the guitarist.
Mike Wellman joined the band later on in 1980 on bass and was followed by Mark Vibrans on keyboards (who worked for many years as a musical director in theatre). From left to right the cartoons are Mike, Mark, Paul, Ged, Andy. Comment from Mike Wellman
Excellent Mike. Thank you for the info!!
ReplyDeleteHi all. I knew the band well and had a copy of the single but no longer have it.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone knows where I can get one I would be very grateful
Paul.
There's plenty available on discogs

DeleteI have a demo tape of Stilts. Does anyone know who can put on a mp3. It plays a bit ‘fuzzy’ on a tape player
ReplyDeletehi don't know if anyone helped out if not will be very interested in doing that for you and making a copy for myself as I am Paul the singer and writer of The stilts stuff.I want to get some of my songs I wrote and redo some thanks Paul Soffe
Deletealso I'll be able to clean it up a bit for you so mp3 should be better
DeleteHi Paul S, I’m Paul Miller who used to live on Duchess Rd Crumpsall. I used to attend Stilts performances, and I remember us going to Wales. I did have a copy of WFAM but leant it to Graham who did the cover. I have not seen him for years, but I emailed him and he said he thinks it may be in his office.
DeleteI did manage to get another signed copy à few months. I’m away at the moment. My email is elalgar11@gmail.com.
Send me an email and I’ll send you a photo of it. We won’t exchange too much info on this blog, but it would be good to get my tape sorted. 👍😎
